KIRKSVILLE, Mo. KTVO (May 26, 2017) — A new photo voter ID law will soon take effect in Missouri.

Back in November, Missourians voted in favor of the measure. Now, that law is set to be implemented this summer.

Those in favor of the law say the goal is to cut down on voter fraud. But, the question is, what if those wanting to vote don’t already have a Missouri driver’s license, or other acceptable photo ID?

Under this new constitutional amendment, the state is required to do three things.

The first, is to pay for non-driver license ID cards so they are free to voters.

The state will also provide the documents necessary to get those ID’s for free as well.

Those documents include: birth certificates, marriage licenses or a divorce decree.

The last thing the state must do is advertise the changes and inform everyone of how to obtain the necessary photo identification.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, you can take all necessary documents to the Missouri Department of Revenue or Missouri License Office in order to get the photo ID.
